3D PRINTED SCALE MODELS

We can start from 2D architectural drawings, existing digital 3D models, or sketches on a napkin, and produce 3D printed scale models of the highest quality using multiple printing technologies.

YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, WE HAVE ANSWERS

How Do You 3D Print a Scale Model?

We start by getting as much information about the model from you as possible.

We then use your sketches, 2D drawings, or 3D digital models to design a NEW 3D model that is able to be 3D printed.

After you decide what scale you'd like your model to be, we print your model, post process it to the highest quality finish, and assemble it into it's final form.

Why do you need to design a new 3D model if I've provided one?

The fact is, most 3D models aren't designed with 3D printing principles in mind.

If printing a model was as easy as hitting print on a machine, anyone and their mother could make scale architectural models with the push of a button.

CUG Labs has been 3D printing and 3D modeling for more than a decade and we use our expertise to analyze and recreate your designs to ensure a superior product than most other 3D printed objects you have seen.

How Much Does It Cost?

The main factors that drive cost are:

  • Information Provided - Creating from a digital 3D model costs less than a creating from a napkin sketch.

  • Level of Detail Required - A simple floor plan model costs less than a fully furnished house model.

  • Size of Model - A 2,500 square foot modern home costs less than a corporate building.

We know that doesn't exactly help you, so here are some hard numbers:

A 3x3x3 [in] model of a prototype floor plan created from a napkin sketch costs around $700.

A 6x6x6 [in] model of a 2,000 square-foot home that's fully furnished made from an existing digital model costs around $2,500.

A 12x12x12 [in] model of an 8,000 square-foot mansion with no furnishings made from 2D drawings costs around $6,000.
